Cape Forchu, near Yarmouth, has a famous lighthouse perched on top of a dramatic rocky shoreline, A short trail, called the Leif Eriksson trail, allows access below the lighthouse and this interesting view of the light, towering above a small rockpool.
8 x 10 watercolour pencil, on lightweight watercolour paper.
There is a narrow strip of land, hardly much wider than the road itself, joining the bit of Cape Forchu with the lighthouse to the rest of the cape. To the right (when heading to the light) is a quite stormy bay, behind a breakwater, called Outer False Harbour. To the left, Inner False Harbour, normally quite tranquil, and this old fishing hut on the edge of the water.
